Dr. Avinash Rana is an educationist and social worker whose journey reflects a deep commitment to education, community development and humanitarian service. From his early achievements in academics, literature and public speaking to his work in educational institutions and social welfare organisations, he has consistently worked towards creating positive change in society.
In 1996, he established The Indian Educational Society, marking the beginning of a broader journey in education and social service. Over the years, his initiatives have expanded to include public health awareness, women's empowerment, vocational training, assistance to needy families and care for abandoned senior citizens.

His Early Journey
The Foundation of His Vision
Born in Nabha, a historic town in Punjab, Dr. Avinash Rana grew up in a family rooted in public service and education. His father, Shri Gauri Shankar, served as a Naib Tehsildar, while his mother, Smt. Shakuntala Devi, worked as a government teacher. Due to his parents' professional responsibilities, he spent parts of his childhood in different places, gaining experiences that shaped his outlook and understanding of society.
He completed his matriculation at Arya School, Nabha, and continued his higher education at Government Ripudaman College, Nabha, before pursuing further studies at Punjabi University, Patiala. His college years were especially influential, as he actively participated in literary and cultural programmes, youth festivals, public speaking events and poetry recitations. His achievements included national-level awards, College Colour and Roll of Honour, helping build the confidence and communication skills that later supported his educational and social work..
A Commitment to Social Progress
From Education to Community Service
The year 1996 marked a significant milestone in Dr. Avinash Rana's life when he established The Indian Educational Society and served as Principal of Indian Public School, Gharachon. Through his work in education, he guided hundreds of students and encouraged their academic progress, confidence and overall personality development. His vision gradually expanded beyond classrooms to address wider social needs.
In 2012, he was appointed Project Director at a Targeted Intervention Centre of the Punjab State AIDS Control Society in Patti, Tarn Taran district. This role brought him closer to community health awareness, HIV/AIDS prevention and public welfare initiatives. His social contributions have also included facilitating free marriages for girls from needy families, arranging vocational training in cutting and tailoring, physiotherapy, and beauty and wellness, and supporting community programmes across several districts of Punjab.

A Commitment to Dignity and Compassion
For Dr. Avinash Rana, social service is a responsibility grounded in compassion, respect and humanity. In 2021, he established Baba Sahib Das Old Age Home at Gharachon under The Indian Educational Society to support elderly people who are abandoned, destitute or without adequate family care. The institution aims to provide shelter, food, medical assistance and a safe, dignified environment for senior citizens in need.
His commitment extends beyond establishing the institution. He has personally taken initiatives to help vulnerable elderly people reach the old age home, where care and support are provided without discrimination and without charge. Alongside this work, he has remained involved in consumer awareness, social leadership and campaigns against substance abuse, continuing his efforts to promote a more caring, responsible and supportive society.
